Yesterday Caitlyn came home with a note from school saying that all students and teachers will be going to see the new movie, Horton Hears a Who, on Tuesday. The Parents Club is paying for everyone to see it and they are filling up three theaters! Last week was Dr. Suess' birthday and the school celebrated it with a program called "Read Across America" so Caitlyn has been pretty excited about reading Dr. Suess classic works! She is really progressing fast in reading! Last week she would ONLY read Dr. Suess books! I'm hoping this field trip will be made as educational as possible, and that the many themes or interpretations of this book will be talked about with the kids.
Today, Marty took part in the annual Ag Fair for 4th graders throughout the county. He set up his booth with all of his mosquito control paraphernalia and drove his sprayer truck in too. I took Aubreigh and Jake down to the fairgrounds to see Daddy at work. Jake thought the steer in the display next to Dad's was cool! Aubreigh would have none of the fair- she just wanted Daddy. That was at 11 am- it's now 2:00 pm and she's just calmed down from saying goodbye. We walked around and looked at the llamas, alpacas, dairy goats (the kids were getting a kick out of seeing that tiny animal being milked), and chickens. Jake petted his first hen. I had to hold his hand so he wouldn't grab the poor thing by its neck. Brie kept saying, "No, no like it....I want Daddy!" So, after 1/2 hour there, it was time to leave. That was fine- we saw enough to entertain, and the fair will be here soon enough. See http://www.frogtown.org/jubilee_home.shtml for more on our Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee, if you have some time to kill and are even remotely interested.
